Supporting Our Local Communities

Georgia United Credit Union takes great pride in being an active and responsible member of the communities we serve. Every year we support events and programs that focus on strengthening our school systems, financial literacy and helping our communities.

Volunteering

All Georgia United team members are given three paid volunteer days each year to serve at credit union-sponsored programs or for a charitable organization of their choice. Don’t be surprised to find our team members volunteering at a local elementary school career day or rolling up their sleeves for service organizations.

Financial Education

We are passionate about furthering financial literacy in our communities. Our team members can be found hosting educational seminars—both online and in person—to help teach important financial skills like money management, budgeting, investing and more. If you need a speaker for your community group, school or business, we'd love to connect with you.

Georgia United's Consumer Lending Team Honored Among Nation’s Best

DULUTH, GA - Georgia United Credit Union’s lending team was recognized among the best and brightest at the recent Credit Union National Association (CUNA) Lending Council Conference’s awards ceremony in San Diego.

Georgia United’s entry entitled “Incremental Changes Bring Big Results” submitted in the Consumer Lending category earned an Excellence in Lending Award presented November 3, at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront Hotel. CUNA’s Excellence in Lending Awards spotlight examples of lending distinction within the credit union industry and recognizes credit unions for their capacity to serve members and sustain sound financial performance, according to the application criteria.

“The Consumer Lending team and our retail lenders have worked tirelessly over the last several years to improve operations and ultimately serve more members with their consumer lending needs,” said Stephanie Zuleger, Georgia United’s Chief Lending Officer. “This award is validation of Georgia United’s organizational-wide efforts to grow consumer lending to serve our members more efficiently, and we thank CUNA for this prominent recognition.”

With a concerted focus on Consumer Lending, Georgia United achieved more than 27 percent in loan growth in 2021, and more than 47 percent in loan portfolio growth in the last three years. In addition, loan application volume increased by more than $124.7 million from July 2021 to July 2022.

A panel consisting of industry professionals and Lending Council Executive Committee members judged and selected the Excellence in Lending Award winners, based on the applicants’ program/process, strategy, and performance.

“We’d like to congratulate this year’s outstanding award winners for their inspiring achievements,” said Thomas Becker, chair, awards and recognition committee, and Chief Lending Officer, Hanscom FCU. “Thank you to all the credit union professionals who nominated their peers. After the challenges of the pandemic, it was truly rewarding for everyone to be in person and recognize all of the great work together."

As one of the winners, Georgia United will be featured in an upcoming issue of Credit Union Magazine.
