Loan Assistance For Members Impacted By COVID-19

Since 1958, our mission has been to serve our members and in times of uncertainty that has not changed. We understand that many of our members are being financially impacted by COVID-19, and we want you to know that we’re here for you. If you're struggling to make payments on your Georgia United loan, we've created the following emergency loan relief options to help.

Loan Deferment

On May 13, 2020, Georgia United automatically deferred loan payments for up to three months on eligible loans* with no fee. This program was created to help ease the financial burden that our members may be experiencing due to COVID-19.

Now that the loan deferment period is coming to an end, we understand that you may still need financial assistance and are providing the following options to support you:

  • Skip-A-Pay: Skip your payment on eligible loans** and credit cards. During the 2020 calendar year, you can complete a total of three monthly skips.
  • Other Loan Assistance: For members that need assistance beyond what's available through our Skip-A-Pay program, requests will be handled on a case by case basis. Please submit your request for assistance.

If you do not request additional assistance, loan and credit card payments that are late will be subject to a late fee, as we are reverting to normal late fee assessments starting August 1, 2020.

How to Defer Your Payment

To skip your payment, you will need to submit a request at least one week prior to your payment due date. You can submit your request the following ways:

Please note that a $25 service fee will be deducted from your checking or savings account for each loan payment that is skipped.

Commercial Loan Relief

First Mortgage or Second Mortgage (fixed rate loans) Relief

For assistance with first and second mortgage requests, please call 877.888.2444. Please note, call volume may be high. We appreciate your patience. 

Student Loan Relief

For assistance with student loan requests, please call 800.723.2210.

Other Loan Relief Support 

If you have other requests for loan relief support beyond what is available above, please submit your request by completing the following: 


*Automatic Loan Deferment: To be eligible, your account must be in good standing with a $5 minimum balance and not in bankruptcy status. Offer valid for the following loan products: personal loans, vehicle loans (excluding CURE Auto Loans), other secured loans (RVs, ATVs, boats), and small business auto loans that are open and current as of February 29, 2020. All Credit Union programs are subject to change at any time without notice. The program will end on July 31, 2020.

**Skip-A-Pay: All Skip-A-Pay requests are subject to Georgia United approval. Interest and finance charges will continue to accrue. Deferring your payment will extend the term of your loan(s), and at the end of the loan(s), a higher total finance charge will be paid than if payments had been made as originally scheduled. Your payment(s) will resume the following month. To be eligible, your account must be in good standing with a $5 minimum balance and have no charged off accounts. Offer valid for the following personal loan products: credit cards, personal loans and vehicle loans (excluding CURE, Indirect and Lender Protection Auto Loans) that are current and open for more than 90 days. You may complete up to three monthly skips during the 2020 calendar year; however, you may not skip two consecutive months. This offer may be used for one of the following options: one monthly loan payment, two consecutive bi-weekly payments or four consecutive weekly loan payments. The application must be received at least one week prior to your due date. If you elected GAP coverage on your loan, coverage may not be extended beyond the original maturity date. It is your responsibility to cancel any scheduled payments from other financial institutions.
