Supporting Our Local Communities
Georgia United Credit Union takes great pride in being an active and responsible member of the communities we serve and believe that giving back reflects the credit union philosophy of "people helping people." Every year we support events and programs that focus on strengthening our school systems, financial literacy and helping the communities near our branch locations.
We Are in This Together
During the coronavirus pandemic, we will continue to be there for our communities and our members. We have been there for you since 1958, and that’s never going to change.
The aftermath of devastating storms on April 12, put additional stressors on Murray County residents. Our Dalton branch team members jumped into action to help the Murray County community by purchasing more than $700 worth of supplies on the Murray EMA list through monetary donations made by team members. You can read our press release to learn how team members made a difference in Murray County.
We continue to be committed to fight hunger in our communities. Georgia United collaborated with other community partners and donated $2,500 to Athens Area Community Foundation to help provide food for Clarke County School District staff and unemployed hospitality workers and families. 110 cars were served on April 7. The funds also helped in the purchase of containers needed for food distribution.
Even small contributions can make a big difference. Our team members are out in their communities doing great things to serve their neighbors and positively impact their community. Follow us on social media channels to see how our team members and the Georgia United Foundation are showing support and appreciation to our local communities.
All Georgia United team members are given three paid volunteer days each year to serve at credit union-sponsored programs or for a charitable organization of their choice. Don’t be surprised to find our team members volunteering at a local elementary school career day or rolling up their sleeves for service organizations.
Safeguarding member account information and minimizing the opportunity for account fraud is important to us. Georgia United partners with Iron Mountain to provide multiple shred days at select branches each spring to allow members to safely dispose and recycle personal documents and records.
Due to COVID-19, there are currently no shred dates planned at this time. Stay tuned for future dates!
