Georgia United Credit Union Donates to Four Local Community Food Banks

DULUTH, GAGeorgia United Credit Union is helping fight food insecurity in their local communities through their #FightHunger challenge. The credit union pledged to donate one dollar to local food banks for every fight-hunger post made on their Facebook page. On October 15, a total of $5,000 was distributed among four local community food banks.

  • Atlanta Community Food Bank - $2,000
  • Laurens Baptist Association - $1,000
  • Dalton’s Greater Works - $1,000
  • Food Bank of Northeast Georgia - $1,000

Ben Burgess, manager of corporate relations at Atlanta Community Food Bank, “Thank you Georgia United for this donation it will cover the cost of 8,000 meals to families who are facing food insecurity within the community.”

“Georgia United is committed to improving the lives of our members, team members and the communities we serve,” stated Community Development Officer, Liz Riffert. “The pandemic has made this year especially challenging and food banks across Georgia are experiencing an increase in demand. The Fight Hunger challenge is a rewarding and fun way for members and team members to help their neighbors in need.”
