Georgia United Credit Union and Georgia United Foundation Welcome New Board Members

DULUTH, GA (November 12, 2020) – Georgia United Credit Union and Georgia United Foundation are pleased to announce the appointment of three new members to their board of directors.

Steve Geddes will serve on the Georgia United Credit Union Board of Directors, Reverend Mark Starr will serve on both the Georgia United Credit Union Board of Directors and the Georgia United Foundation Board of Directors and Dr. Jason Branch will serve as treasurer on the Georgia United Foundation Board of Directors.

 “As I reflect on my time serving on the board, I recognize how blessed we have been to have so many talented and dedicated people volunteer their time and energy. That legacy continues as we welcome Steve, Mark and Jason to the Georgia United family.  We are excited to benefit from their experience and insights as we serve together. We are also thankful for all our board and committee members’ leadership and dedication to serve our members, team members and communities,” shared Board Chair, Tom Dickson.  

  • Geddes is the director of data analytics and process improvement for the Department of Audits and Accounts. In this role, Geddes is responsible for advising the State Auditor, strategic planning, reviewing policies and leading several teams. With nineteen years’ experience, Geddes has an extensive background in security risks when applied to databases, data assets, applications and underlaying services.
  • Starr is the administrator of St. John Paul II Mission in Gainesville. Since 2012, Starr has managed a variety of ministries and established a new parish in Acworth, constructing new worship and educational space in four years without capital campaign. In addition, Starr has a background in engineering and speaks Spanish.
  • Branch is the superintendent of Oconee County Schools and has worked in Georgia school systems for over twenty years. Since 2012, Branch has led the school district through the development of its first strategic plan in over two decades, implemented a one-to-one Chromebook initiative, developed a $100 million building campaign to modernize instructional facilities and accelerated student learning opportunities through partnerships with the University of North Georgia and Athens Technical College.

The Georgia United Credit Union Board of Directors has also announced the retirement of Tom Cochran, who has served on the board for fourteen years. Cochran always demonstrated a heart for service and was instrumental in the development of the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) partnership with the University of Georgia.
