Protecting Yourself with Identity Theft 911

At Georgia United, we are committed to maintaining the security of your personal and financial information, and we take every necessary step to ensure that your accounts are protected. If you’re a member who has a checking account with us, congratulations! As part of our efforts to ensure your account security, all checking accounts have been upgraded to receive free Identity Theft 911 protection. This upgrade includes:

  • A personal advocate who will work with you one-on-one to restore your identity in the event that it is compromised
  • Systematic notification to credit bureaus, creditors, governmental agencies and others, including credit collectors
  • Preparation of all documents and phone calls needed to resolve your identity theft
  • Comprehensive case file creation to provide assistance to law enforcement
  • A full year of credit monitoring, fraud monitoring and follow-up calls
  • Fraud alerts and education

To learn more about Identity Theft 911 protection for your Georgia United checking account, contact a friendly representative from our Member Support Center at 770-476-6400, option #3, or visit your local branch. To report a lost or stolen VISA® Debit Card or ATM card, please call 1-866-677-7156.

Automatic Overdraft Protection

Georgia United checking accounts automatically come with overdraft protection from your share savings account. Members may also choose to have funds automatically transferred from a Personal Line of Credit* or their Georgia United Visa® Credit Card**

*Subject to credit approval and available funds. Please see our Loans section for details on this great financial tool. **Visa Credit Card overdraft option only available to Platinum members.

Courtesy Pay

Courtesy Pay is a service we offer to eligible checking account* members, with an account open at least 60 days, to automatically cover a transaction that exceeds the balance in your checking account after Overdraft Protection has been applied. Instead of having a check returned, Courtesy Pay covers your insufficient fund item(s) for a $30 fee per item. In order to avoid interruption of this service, your account must be brought current within 30 days of initial use.

You are automatically enrolled for Courtesy Pay to cover your checks, electronic payments (ACH) and bill pay items. You must opt-in to receive Courtesy Pay for ATM and debit card transactions by:

  • Logging in to Online Banking and selecting the Courtesy Pay tab
  • Contacting our Member Care Center at 770-476-4600, option #3.
  • Visiting one of our branches

To see an example of how Courtesy Pay can save you money in unnecessary charges and learn more about the service, please see our Courtesy Pay FAQs.

*We pay your overdraft items at our discretion, up to the specific limit for your account (link to PDF), and we reserve the right not to pay. For example, we typically do not pay overdrafts if your account is not in good standing, or you are not making regular deposits, or you have too many overdrafts.
